iPod Updated, big problem

Ok - This afternoon, I got the iPod out of the dock, and it was really hot when I touched it. I decided to restore the iPod software to try to fix the problem and because of the fact that I hadn't done so in a few weeks. I moved all of my files that I added to it and restored the software. After the restore, iTunes recognized the iPod, but couldn't recognize the fact that the iPod didn't have any songs on it. Now, I can't update the iPod. Can someone please help?

Yeah, I forgot to post what happened afterward. I was able to fix the problem by "updating" the iPod to an older software version (2.2) and then upgrade back to 2.3.jngrossmann at 2007-11-15 16:58:15 >
