iBook Updates Coming Soon?
Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. I have been looking at rumors about what will happen at Steve Jobs' keynote speech. I'm thinking they will release the fifth generation iPod. Now, that seems probable, as the 4G iPod has been out for almost a year. However, the WWDC is a developers conference. Developers don't care about iPods. So, that would make you think that Jobs will release a Mac update.
Now, my question is do you think Apple will release an iBook update anytime soon? Maybe even at the WWDC?
As you see in my sig, I am planning on saving for an iMac G5, however, I would enjoy an iBook if it had some nice new things added:
My Dream iBook
1.5Ghz PowerPC G4 (at least)
80GB HDD (5400RPM at least)
1GB RAM
8x Superdrive
64MB (at least) of ATI video
and a DVI PORT ON THE BACK !! (for Apple Cinema Displays)
Are these updates realistic? And, I know, you are saying if she wants this, why doesn't she get a Powerbook? Personally, I don't like the silver touch of the Powerbook. I know, a typical girl answer.
I just love Apple's white concept. It makes things look sleek, and awesome, IMO. So, do you think the iBook will be updated soon?
Thanks!

Probably during or slightly after the WWDC (1 week maybe?). iBooks usually get updated in 6-7 months cycles and the last one was like in, October so it's due. :)
But I'm still stuck with my 2 cycles ago 1.07Ghz 12" G4 :(
I thought you wanted a 17" 2Ghz iMac G5?!!

Ok then.
The specs of what you have requested are not plausible.
The current line of powerbooks already have that and more, and Apple will not update the iBooks like that unless the PowerBooks get a REALLY huge upgrade, something revolutionary.
The iBook is a consumer product line of notebooks, and what you are requesting is a pro notebook, one which is already provided by Apple in the form of the PowerBook.
The iBook will not get updates like the ones you've requested anytime soon.
