Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
This is TOTALLY just out of interest, I'm not looking for a mod job, although I wouldn't mind if you gave me one;) Just wondering if any of you out there think I would be fit to moderate iPod Lounge forums?
# 1 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
Just to add one more thing. If you vote no, could you please just give a very quick explanation on why you voted no.
Thanks!
# 2 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
I voted no. Too little posts. Anyway, I have a tiny nagging feeling in my head that this thread will be closed soon :)

To answer your question -
Do I qualify to be a moderator? (http://www.ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=214596#post214596)
We pick moderators as we see a need and based off of a person's post record among other things. We do not accept requests to become a moderator. Asking will probably hurt your chances of getting picked. Just be here a lot and be helpful.

No, first of all I think you might need just a few more posts, or a couple thousand more. Just look at the Forum helpers, most have a couple thousands worth of posts. Also, a mod is an expert, and they have proved that they can help people in the area.

High posts counts are not always necessary. JHollington was made a mod when he only had a few hundred posts and he has proved to be doing a good job.

According to MadPict's post, it seems that wanting the job disqualifies a candidate. Too bad the same criterion isn't applied to candidates for public office! :)
# 7 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
Guys, guys! You're taking my question too seriously! I've read the article 'Do I Qualify To Be A Moderator' ages ago! I was only wondering out of curiosity. I don't even (at the moment) particularily want a mod job. It was just a wondering.
# 8 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
NO, as i aint seen anything of subtance. 2bh ive hardly see u around the place. and your post count aint what im on about.

# 10 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
Chuckley, buddy, I was not asking! I was merely wondering whether people saw me fit to be a moderator! PLEASE read the thread before posting!
BUT, for your first post, thanks. Always appreciate feedback.
# 11 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
No, Because of Post Count
# 12 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
Why do you want to know if you're fit to be a moderator, if you don't want to be a moderator?
Thats like going to your army recruitor and asking if you'll pass the physical...........
But this place promotes "If you have to ask, you most likely arn't qualified". And post counts have nothing to do with it; you don't me getting offered anything.........
If post counts mattered, enjoilax would have been made Emperor of this place.

Yeah, that's true. I guess what i was trying to say is that you have to have a good rep around here, and the most likely way of doing that is having a high post count.
# 14 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
I have a few thousand and even i don't think i should be a mod (here). I get too angry. :(

Oh man, who wants to crown me?
# 18 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
Just send me your 3G 40GB and I'd be glad to buy you a $5 plastic crown :p
While post counts do matter to a certain extent (I think 7 or 8 out of the top 10 posters are iPL staff) it doesn't matter that much...
# 19 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
No, because you made this thread.
# 20 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
stop being tight-asses everyone :)
# 21 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
It has nothing to do with post-count.
It has nothing to do with asking if you can.
It has everything to do with becoming a respected member of this very nice community.

1 backer...and he didn't even vote for you too. :p
Very true, Adam. Very very true.
# 24 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
I'm pretty sure he's not a backer, I just think he's saying that everyone is taking this WAY too seriously... Maybe because no-one else had the guts to do a poll like this.
# 25 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
No, & Btw i'd love to have as much spare time as you. I hope we have all quenched your mindless curiousity.

Many members contact us about becoming Helpers or Mods and we politely tell them the procedure for 'recruiting' new staff - they tend to use the PM system or email and so keep any feelings of disappointment to themselves.
I wouldn't say it took "guts" to post this. Now whats the word I'm looking for...?

Well, two people voted yes...
# 40 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
Well one was probably you, so that doesn't count, and the other was a mistake - I received a PM about it...

Go for it! Be like one of those retired presidents that travel around giving speeches. Perhaps the local depression clinic would be a good place to start out?

1) You joined last month
2) I havn't seen you barely
3) You don't have mod-like charististics
4) You make dumb threads like this one

Hahaha. Let's tone down a bit shall we? It is getting a little mean.
Sorry mate, maybe in the future, but not yet.
# 49 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
Maybe I should be a mod...
# 50 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
The point begs to be pointed out.....
If they really do need a mod, wouldn't they just go into their private forum, discuss who's good and who's not, then propose it to them? And from what I've seen recently, I doubt they need more mods.

# 52 Re: Just out of interest, do you think I would be fit to moderate?
And I think the point has been made. We choose the Mods and while volunteers are nice to see we base our decisions on members activity in the forums.
Having these in your sig certainly raises doubts on your suitability in my mind at least - kind of like shooting yourself in the foot!!
1. Forum Community (http://forums.ipodlounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=90405&highlight=Forum+Community)
2. Interesting Post... (http://forums.ipodlounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=90392&highlight=Why+has+this+forum+become+a+place+to+bra g+about)
And before I get accused of being cruel and heartless, I didn't start the thread and it was doomed from the first reply - so if you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen!
