Got A Rio Carbon!

So you bought the Rio to get more attention, thats kind of a lame reason but anyway...

Carbon's are pretty good pieces of tech. And Rio make really good MP3 players in general.

With all respect, you have been here a month, maybe longer as a "lurker", so you have to appreciate that the elder loungers here have seen this type of post so many times before and they were invariably designed as flamebait.

We even have on record a new member here posting such a thread, and when a check was carried out he was found to have posted over on the Riovolution forums "None of us go over to iPodlounge and troll their boards" which of course he then proceeded to do...

So, maybe the appearance of posts of this nature produce replies which could be seen as less than sympathetic to the original poster - we are a suspicious lot...

It looks like a nice little unit. As long as it gets the job done WGAF. My iPod does what I want it to, day in and day out. If someone else finds something that works for them - great!

I do agree that the guy is trolling; ask yourself why else would he post his comment here. Go ahead and flame him if it makes you feel better, but I use these message boards to exchange useful information. If you're looking for a fight, then take it outside... to the playground.

Rio constantly entices me because of gapless playback. I'd like to know how well the java software of theirs works with a Mac, but the main thing holding me back is that horribly stingy 90 day warranty compared to the iPod's one year warranty (before applecare)

I like it that you can "think differently" and it's ok if you want others to know it. Did the fact that your player have more memory, longer batt life, smaller size, etc. also weigh in your decision? That part may have gone over the podheads. I'm glad others are making competitive products, that will force Apple to continue to improve and keep prices competitive. Anybody seen old movie "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" where everybody's brain gets taken over by pods? Is that what we want?

Let's see what happens if someone starts a new thread on Riovolution called : "JUST GOT AN IPOD!!"....do you think they won't call whoever starts that thread a "troll" or "post-whore"? The point of my post to paracaine was as a follow up to his post "Some of you are so immature, just cos he decided not to buy an iPod doesn't mean you all have to flame him. and I was trying to explain the reason for the style of response of some members. I did not at any point say what he was posting was not worthy.

I don't think I was flaming anyone. I was actually stating fact in my reply. We did have a new member come here and post about how great the Rio was and how poor the ipod was. MikeM even went over to the Riovolution forums to make the peace. If you can show me a flame in my post I will apologise - I have no problem with doing so if that is how my reply reads.

I have absolutely no problem with someone posting a constructive comparison between the iPod and any other DAP as I realise that the iPod isn't perfect in every aspect of its performance. Gapless playback is one area I wish Apple would catch up.

For your information I also request that members do not post yet more pictures of their iPods - they clog up our servers with images which we already have had posted before. So my plea for no pics was for that reason. It was also in reply to paracaine's message to post them. c unit did not ask to post the pics.

I stand by what i said 100%. it was out of warranty and the staff told him the truth. he just didnt want to hear it. their future expense in not my fault or apples.
