The Official "Lost" TV Show Thread.

So, two weeks ago there was an episode of Lost in which Boone was in that plane hanging off the cliff with Locke looking on. When Boone is on the radio, he hears a voice. While watching that episode, I could have sworn the person said "there are no survivors of Flight 815."

However, tonight I saw a promo for the upcoming episodes and they played audio from that scene. This time, however, the person clearly said "we are the survivors of Flight 815."

What's the deal? Did anybody else hear "there are no survivors of Flight 815" the first time around? With a forum this size, there's got to be a lot of people watching Lost. Help me out here.

Thanks.

Yeah. The person that Boone got on the radio just believes as does probably everyone else that everyone in the plane died since they haven't found it.

Kinda like Amelia Earhart I guess.

Yep, there was a note of that at TVTome.

# When Boone (Ian Somerhalder) contacts the outside from the Beechcraft radio, he states that they are survivors of Oceanic flight 815. Closed Caption reveals that he was answered with..."There were no survivors of Oceanic Flight 815!"...a possible clue to the plot.

# On the ABC website, a recap video clip can be seen of this episode (for a limited time). Within the clip, the audio has been changed for the scene of Boone contacting outsiders with the Beechcraft radio. The Audio has gone from..."there were no survivors of..." to, "No, we're the survivors of oceanic flight 815!" (Keep in mind, this took place on April Fools Day.)
A joke from the producers??...or a last-minute plot decision change? (the producers of LOST write episode to episode. They themselves are unsure of how it will end.

Hmmm, odd ...

I'm captivated by the show!

Oh, Gadget, check your PM's :)

Wow. There's no quick answer to that. Well, I suppose the quick answer is that Sayed found the French woman.

I'd have to spend the next couple of hours telling you what happened after that. If you're interested, I'm sure there are a multitude of sites that give plot details. Sayed found her at least 8 or so episodes ago, so a LOT has happened since then.

I remember Boone saying "we are the survivors of Oceanic Flight Flight 815."

I can't remember what the woman's voice said though.

Snowy28: your post mentioned the episode aired on April fool's day, but Lost is aired on Wednesdays. April fool's day was on a Friday.

why i think they said: "We are the survivors..."
1. No radio operator would be like: "LOL! You prankster" to a distress call. Guarenteed.
2. ABC recently released a promo where you can clearly hear it.

Re: #1-

Perhaps, but the following is not exactly a "LOL! You prankster" type situation:

"Hello, is anybody there."

"Yes, who is this."

"I'm a survivor of Oceanic Flight 815."

"Huh, there are no survivors of Oceanic Flight 815."

I know those aren't exactly the words that were said on the show, but the response doesn't have to be said in a mocking way. It could just as easily be disbelief, or shock.

I'm still not convinced.

Re: #2-

Tons of things are said and shown in promos that differ from the actual episodes.

Exhibit "A" -- promos of "24," compared to actual episodes of 24.

Case closed. ;)

No, the next new episode is May 4. After that there is 2 or 3 more shows, and then the finale.

I just double checked. The last episode was Episode 20. Since there are 24 episodes, we've got 4 left, including the finale.

Lost is probably my favourite show right now, it's good to hear that other iPodloungers are enjoying it too. I've managed to watch every episode this season, something I've never been able to do for any other show.

How about we make this the official Lost thread where we can discuss plot points, characters, spoilers, hints etc.? Mods?

Btw, ABC could be messing with us on purpose with those promos, just a thought.

My understanding is that the writers are behind schedule. Essentially, ABC wasn't sure this show would be a hit. They agreed to air a pilot episode, but no more. So, the writers only wrote the first episode. After the first episode was a huge hit, ABC bought a couple more episodes. So, the writers only wrote a few more episodes. Once ABC decides to buy a whole season, the writers then had to begin working overtime. The huge gaps in between some episodes (in some cases more than a month) is caused by writer delays as well as ABC's desire to get the episodes to span an entire season and hit all the major "sweeps" periods.

However, starting May 4 the remaining episodes will be back-to-back with no more repeats in between.

My friends and I have this theory that Loche's legs stared to become paralyzed again because if the radio had worked on the plane they would have been saved. We think something about the island has made him un-paralyzed. I f you notice this only starts happening when he has the dream about the plane and then when they actually go looking for it. Like the thought of being saved is making him paralyzed. I dunno just a thought... I don't think that Loche wants to be found.
Anyone think that charlie is gonna find the drugs on the plane? I hope not, hes one of my favorite characters

Was thinking about the radio situation. Someone said that the voice said "we are the survivors.." and thought they could be talking to themselves in another dimension.

What about the possibility that Boone was talking to the other passengers of the plane? They never found all the bodies, there could be more people on another part of the island.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I thought of that possibility. However, where would they have gotten the other radio. The radio on their actual plane didn't function (I believe they already found that one, no?). And, if the "other survivors" have a working radio, they would have already called for help.

Without knowing for sure what the other voice said, it's impossible to figure out who the "other people" were.

I never thought of that. Yeah remember when Jack, Kate, and Charlie went into the plane wreckage and the pilot was still alive and the radio kind of worked before that monster thing came and snatched the pilot? I can't remeber if they left that radio or took it with them.

they took it with them. Sayid(?) tried to use it on the hill. Sawyer and the girl were holding up antenna's to boost his signal. I think Boone's sister also was supposed to raise an antenna too. But Sayid was attacked from behind and knocked out.

Maybe they found one too, the French transmision signal point has yet to be found. There could have been more than one radio on the plane. There could be more planes crashed in the jungle.

Maybe they have been trying to make contact, but the island is blocking the signal from leaving the island? I dunno, but i hope they answer all the mysteries.

Yeah, looks to be a good one. They ignored Locke in the last episode, so this episode is sure to be pretty focused on his character.

That show is pretty cheesy. I only watched the first episode. The plot is interesting but I do think its one of those shows that really drags on with nothing much happening. Obviously they are never going to leave the island because then that would just end the show. I'm not going to bother to continue watching it but I would like to hear from people about what happened with the radio transmission and the polar bear.

I agree. Although Locke's explanation for why he did it makes sense and fits perfectly with his character, I didn't suspect it until he started telling the story. It took me by surprise.

Also, as far as future posts are concerned, we should all pay attention to time zones and be courteous to other readers who might not have seen the show yet.

I clicked on this thread and read Shootingstar11's post without having seen the show yet. Although that post was rather ambiguous and didn't reveal much, it occurred to me that we'll need to be careful about that kind of thing.

So, if people are going to post about a show that just aired on East Coast and it has not yet aired on the West Coast, perhaps we should include a spoiler alert, drop down 10 or so lines and then write what you have to say.

Just a thought.

I guess for me is wasn't that big because I didn't get to see all of the eposoide about Sayid and his girlfriend and asked a friend who was under the impression that she was alive so I never thought she was dead. Yeah I did suspect Locke as being the mystery guy it was suprising to have that confirmed though.
Agreed spoiler warnings would be a good Idea although I posted (being on mountain time after having waited a few hours) I thought everyone would have seen it but if you taped it I guess that wouldn't be true.

Ok heres my thought:
*Possible Spoilers*

Sayed, Jack, and Locke are going to open the hatch on the final episode, whatever they find in there is going to form the cliffhanger for the season finale.

*END*

I am dreading the season finale, with the quality of cliffhanger they leave us with at the end of each episode... Can you imagine how evil the season finale is gonna be?

I think it's clear that everythings going to #### (and fast).

smorzander - if it makes you feel any better, one of the recent episodes was just a recap of the previous ones. If you'd seen the previous ones already, that one would be a waste of time.

I guess they just wanted something so the people who hadn't seen the first part of the season could catch up. It was pretty boring.

well smorz, I'd be thinking "torrents". :)

I read in Wired that the new "Battlestar Galactica" was one of the best sci-fi series ever; now, I'd avoided it all year because the original BG was one of the silliest sci-fi series ever. So I downloaded the whole series on torrents - it took about a day per show. Its no substitute for seeing it on the big screen, but at least it gets you your fix until the DVDs are available.

I would also suggest you download the torrents. I download shows if I forget to record or if my DVR crashes. It took me two-days to get the final Survivor, the hardest part was not finding out who won until I watched it.

Tvtome.com has a complete episode list, but they contain spoilers. Look here -> http://www.tvtome.com/Lost/guide.html

spoiler warning for those who haven't seen 5/18/2005 episode...

was that the science teacher running from the monster? if so, how did he get in front of those guys after leaving the group. I thought it was a new character but they never mentioned it, so I had to rewind and it was too blurry to tell.

also, I found a good picture of the 'Black Rock' http://lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimagepopup&pid=39746&fullsize=1

It's possible the science teacher got lost and tried to walk back in a different direction and just accidentally crossed the path with the invisible monster. So he ran back to the group for help.

yeah i think what mookiemonster said happened. it seems easy to get lost on that island.

Don't worry about how the teacher got separated from the group. This isn't one of those shows where you should analyze the continuity of everything. I mean lets face it, the tail section of a plane just CAME OFF (!), but there were still over 40 SURVIVORS (!), a guy who was handicapped suddenly WASN'T (!), the island had a POLAR BEAR (!), and a radio has been transmitting on battery power for 16 YEARS WITHOUT RUNNING THE BATTERY DRY! I can't even get my iPod to run for a day without running the battery dry, and its not transmitting at high power!

Just suspend disbelief and enjoy the ride. :)

i still think it is odd that no one has asked Frenchie where her signal is transmitting from.

Child abduction?
Where did those marauders come from?
A shaft below the surface of the island?

I'm expecting them to go to the other side of the island to find a Club Med Resort there

So who exactly were the people who took Walt (the kid) from the raft?
I see two possiblilites. They could be "the others" like Ethan who kidnapped Claire, or possibly, more passengers from the plane who survived elsewhere on the island. Maybe these different survivors took Walt for "the others" in exchange for something. Just an idea.

i think it is the other because that french girl said "they were going after the boy" but she thought it would be the baby but it was walt. i think its "the others". i cant wait for the next season

Remember Walt has like those weird powers that were never explained maybe these people know about them and kidnapped him. I think that they are " they" it makes the most sense to me but i have started wondering whether or not they exist.

I have watched 10 episodes and can't believe how slooooow the show moves. It has frustrated me to the point of not watching it anymore. I must say I feel better now that I spend that hour every week doing something more constructive.
