What do you think is the best genre of music and/or artist?
Mine's Punk for Genre and Sum41 or Green Day for Artist.

There really isn't any "best". That's the nice thing about music - there's something for everyone, even for every mood. The big labels want to push a "best artist" or "best this" or "best that" to focus us (and our money) on a small number of artists, and we really don't have to.

If you haven't guessed this far, my favorite genre is "indie". :)

*high-five*

I think this is going in the vein of "whats your favorite music..." threads.

Mine would be classic rock (60's to 80's) and the Beatles. Not doubt in my mind.

The best music is silence, because we all like to hear that once in a while.

Progressive rock and metal all the way! Although i do like jazz...My favourite artists in these genres are Gong, King Crimson, Tool, Blind Guardian, Soft Machine, Dream Theatre...*could go on for days*

The title will undoubtedly lead to many an argument over "best artist", there can never be a best as someone before me said.

Does Radiohead belong to any one genre? #1, no matter what. That's what I have to say. Well, amongst the genre-less (Mars Volta, whatever, the list could go on and on but I'm lazy) Radiohead is best.

My 2 most played are classic rock (Rolling Stones, Cream, Led, and similar) and Alternative (Nirvana, Silverchair, Coldplay, Oasis and similar).

I never listened to slow relaxing music until I got my ipod but as I now use it to go to sleep with ... I play more relaxing style music that I never would have listened to before so now that would be 3rd. Mind you some of the above can have their nice slow relaxing songs so they fit in there too !!!

Classic Rock is great. I like most classic rock artists... I don't know what genre you would call Green Day. Green Day is good too.

I like Green Day too. They class them as punk .. but I'm not really sure they are true punk to me. Whatever genre they are great ... I suppose maybe punk rock ???
