Confused about cables
Just about to buy my first iPod (a 30G photo) and I plan to get a dock with it. I see on the Apple site that they do a dock cable that has both USB2 and Firewire connectors. If I get this will it mean I can charge the iPod (via the AC adaptor) and sync to my PowerBook (via Firewire) at the same time? Or would it simply save me from switching cables around all the time?
I do realise that the iPod will charge from my PowerBook via the Firewire cable, but the battery life on the PowerBook is bad enough already.
I couldn't find anything on this from searching this forum. Thanks for any advice.

Welcome. Yes, you can connect the FW end to the adapter & the USB to the computer at the same time. I use one with my laptop for transferring music to the iPod to keep the iPod battery from depleting while connected & transferring.

OK I bought the usb/firewire cable today and I have a question. The instructions that came with it say...like you said as well...that you can plug in the firewire part to the plug to charge the ipod while you connect the usb to the pc to sync.
What I want to know is can you do the same thing in reverse. Can I plug the usb part into the ac adapter part and the firewire to the pc to sync and charge at the same time. In others words the charging would be done via the usb being attached the part you plug into the wall while the firewire part would be plugged into the computer to sync...both plugged in at the same time.
