Ipod shuffle wont play? Green & Yellow light blink back and forth

I have loaded songs on my ipod shuffle but when I hit the play button to listen to them the light just blinks back and forth from yellow to green a number of times. What is that all about.

theres an error, restore the shuffle.

if that doesnt work, there might be a problem with the songs you are putting on. try putting on only 1 that you know for sure is MP3 or AAC (encoded with itunes).

I got it figured out. Apparently when I initially loaded the songs onto the ipod shuffle, it was being used as a disk, I just went into the E drive erased them all off of the ipod and then reloaded them correctly through Itunes. To begin with I had just highlighted and dragged the songs into the E drive which made them transfer as the wrong file type?? I guess that is what I did anyway. Either way it is working now. Thanks.

you cannot drag and drop songs. itunes puts them into a database and creates a playlist which the shuffle reads from. thats why dragging and dropping wont work.

if you would like to instead drag and drop, there is a small file that you can add to the shuffle as data. then, you drag the songs you want in, run the file, and it generates the database. search for shuffle database builder or something like that.

whenever i plug my ipod shuffle into the USB port. Nothing happens. No lights. wht is this? i have tried everything from installing itunes again and dowloading the ipod updater pack. Can somene please help me. i need my ipod shuffle to work. i miss my songs.
