Ipod Mini/need to change language

I just got a new ipod mini 2G 6gb. In trying to set it up I must have hit a language button. Now everything on my ipod is in Japanese. I followed the instructions in the manual for changing it but I can't get it to work. I don't know how to reformat . The instructions say to scroll down to the fourth item and select but it doesn't work. Please help.
