BMW 1 series instal
I have a new ipodmini 6g (apple green) and am very happy.
I also have a new BMW 120i and am happy about that too.
Now I want to marry them up but the best I seem to be able to do is to put a cable in the headphone jack and aux jack. That means I can listen through my radio but all volume and track changes have to be via my ipod.
Is there a better way? What do I need to do?
Your advise would be appreciated.

1 Series BMW's in Australia are supposed to be prewired with the BMW iPod kit (according to what I have been told by our BMW dealer).
Have you checked with your dealer?

Wow you were quick!
Yes I spoke to my dealer first but he has not been particularly helpful - and neither was my local apple dealer!
At least I'm listening to the ipod through my aux jack, but i'm sure there is more.

Thankyou again.
I've rung BMW Melbourne and the only Sarah's they have work in Mini and on the phones.
Nevertheless, someone there has promised to see if they can find out what I need to know.
I'll keep you posted!

Here's the latest:
Spoke with Sarah. She has no idea but was trying to be helpful.
She's referred me back to the service area (who have told me that the Ipod connector does not apply to 1 series). Sarah has given me another name so I'll try him.
My, this is fun!

and here is the final result:
What I've done is all you can do with the 1 series.
I can play my ipod (good), but only by connecting from the ipod to the aux jack. This is headphone to aux.
THis means I can listen to my music but have to do all track changes and basic volume controlling on the ipod itself.
I'll probably end up getting an alternate connecting devise to make this a bit more user friendly.
