the new site is frustrating
Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. The new ipodlounge site is driving me crazy. I see an article/review summary with a link. I assume that if I click on the link I will get the full article/review. But nothing doing. I get a long list of other articles/reviews.
I used to visit this site everyday. It made me feel like I knew all the latest on ipods. But now I'm visiting other less time consuming sites on ipod instead even though I don't like their content as well. I just don't have the time to search and search and search for information.
Please consider reworking the site again. The content here is terrific but the design is a real problem.
thanks.

If you click on "Review" it will take you to the reviews listing - if you click on the title of the summary it will take you to the full review. If this is not happening please tell us which review item is misdirecting you.

Why is the main site not fixed yet?
What I mean by that is I can barely view the main pages from my PC at work and have since given up trying to do so and on my Mac at home the site is still in "landing strip" format.
Surely this must still be annoying others and dropping readership numbers.

The "landing strip" format is intended that way. Other sites use it - Apple for a start do. A good explanation of the benefits of fixed width design can be read Here ( http://www.notestips.com/80256B3A007F2692/1/TAIO-5TT34F) and Here ( http://9rules.com/whitespace/design/liquid_vs_fixed.php).

Yes, they make some good points but was the previous site hard to read? Not once did that thought ever cross my mind.
The forums still use the full width of the screen and I am sure that others along with myself dont find them hard to read at all.
I have spoken with some friends who are also visitors to this site and some of them are having trouble displaying the main site on their browsers as well. Surely this problem must be fairly widespread and it's just that no one really says anything.

Well if you consider that the width of the forum post "body" is similar in size to the width of the main page then you don't find it hard to read.
If you go to a forum which does use the full width of the page (e.g. here (http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=42163) - if you reduce the browser font size to close to iPodlounge forums you'll see what I mean ) then take into account some members inability, or refusal, to use paragraphs or even any punctuation, then trying to read a long post could be frustrating.
The previous site was not hard to read, but was due an update. I think if you look closely enough more and more sites are going to fixed width. Until we did I hadn't noticed it, but it is more common than I thought.
Thanks for your feedback on this.

For what its worth, I prefer the new site, the "landing strip" makes it much easier to read IMO.
