ER4P and microphonics

e3c are great for the gym - they hold securly to my head thanks to that clear tube on the cord

Looking at buying the ER4P's but they only seem to have a shirt 'clip' - worried about safety of a dangling cord and possible microphonics

Is there a 3rd party e3c-like 'tube' available for the ER4P cord? - or has somebody come up with a DIY version?

the cord is kind of strange actually. Up to the split it is a thicker, heavier cord. It then splits into two thin, braided cords that lead to the earpieces. The lower cord (thicker, heavier) which is about 3.5 feet / 5 exhibits no cord noise at all, it's the braided part, about 1.5 feet, that will transmit noises when they touch something.

I've found that using the shirt clip pretty much eliminates all cord noise as it holds the cord in place, and prevents it from rubbing it against anything.
