I have a pair of Sony Fontopias, but i lost the extension lead... and it would be quite useful to have a remote.

The only remote i can think of which would match is the Apple Earbud Remote...

But, as i have never seen these in real life, what i would like to know is:
could i remove the apple earphones and plug my Sonys into the remote, and then plug that into my iPod?

Also, i am considering the Shure e3c earphones.
Would using a remote diminish the quality of the sound?
