Erase Card Wont Work

Using 60G, connector & Nikon D100 I transfered photos to ipod from my card. Now I'm trying to erase the card in the camera & iPod says there are no photos on the card, but there are. Since it doesn't see any photos, it won't erase any photos. Anyone know how to get the iPod to erase the card now?
