podcasts and bookmarks

I have searched - I am new to forums - if this has been answered my apologies. Why oh why is it soooo difficult to bookmark every track. I am computer literate and enjoy messin with stuff but oh my god I have hundreds of podcasts to deal with. I have seen the instructions, the work arounds - cmon its mad! And now because I enjoy podcasting I have millions of artists on my ipod - they are not artists - ITS A PODCAST not an album. I know its new, but again, cmon! it cant be that difficult to put speech be it podcast, audio book or own recording into a different area......AUTOMATICALLY, so when I want to listen to Devo (yup, over 40) I dont have to scroll past Dawn and Drew. And the lack of auto bookmarking is such a pain.
Mhhh I love my ipo but.......

You can always browse by Genre but I still agree with you, I wish my authors and comedians would not be listed in the same place as my music artists.

Markable will convert files to be bookmarkable and is very reasonably priced. The latest version will convert files without renaming them, perfect for podcasts and radioshows. http://www.ipodsoft.com/index.php?/software/markable

What aggregator are you using to get your podcasts? Most of the good ones these days will automatically convert the files after download. In addition, many will also allow you to re-tag the files, allowing you to sort them as you want (Push them to the end of the list, f'rex)

Thanks guys- i think i am going to invest in markable - its just a shame the ipod doesnt do it automatically.
I am using ipodderx to d'load which is a great bit of software - I have to re tag some podcasts from speech to podcast as genre. This helps so at least i can sort through my podcasts. The real problem is if I just want to lay back and scroll through artists or bands i also have podcasts in there - I have about 70 podcasts at the moment - around 30 itconversations, most with a different author/speaker therefor artist/album - this messes up the list. The best tip i have picked up is using smart playlists- with these i can really customise what i want, but sort of discourages the use of the main reason i bought the ipo - the fab thumbwheel.
To sum up - all I really want is the ipod to differentiate, by genre, music and speech and have 2 totally seperate folders. And bookmark speech.

Ah - try switching to Doppler, it's got bookmarking/retagging features that I don't believe iPodder has.
