i duno, its rather big and its not all one unit. thats a minus for portability, but it probably sounds beautiful :o)

# 4 Re: bose sounddock is doomed!
Its not supposed to be portable, its more of an on-your-desk solution

and its 400 bucks. worth it tho! trust me, I own the bigger ones.

The soundock is terrible anyway. A total rip-off IMO.

For $400 I'd rather get a set of JBL On Stage speakers for every room of my house!

or you could buy a dock and a good set of 2.1 speakers for logitech z series... which would smoke that

logitech smoke the Klipsch iFi?

think again.

# 10 Re: bose sounddock is doomed!
its just an overpriced 2.1 system just cuz it has a dockin thing
have you even heard these?

# 11 Re: bose sounddock is doomed!
echo, the ifi's use Klipschs own home theater reference components found only in their expensive stuff. Logitech wont be able to hold a candle to that. Its 400 bucks for a reason, not a stupid docking station which I doubt they even factor into the cost of that system. I have heard RSX-3s and I have heard a similar subwoofer by Klipsch and believe me, I own the Promedia 5.1 Ultras and they cant even touch this thing much less any system from Logitech.

I don't think Bose have anything to worry about here! This kit is ugly as hell, all seperates and wires and very expensive. I personally think the Bose is perfect!

imo, the ifi tramples the sounddock for looks, but if you like the clean and hidden look of your speakers i cant argue. I will say this: The ifi doest hide is muscles like the bose does.. for good reason too. ifi is about sound quality, not wife approval factor (no offence ladies)

here are some quotes from the two reviews so far you should note.

"Connection of the cables is effortlessly easy because of good quality cabling and speaker terminal design"

"iFis offer a sonic experience that outstrips Boses - and pretty much all other iPod-specific speaker systems - by a fair margin"

"The more significant distinction between SoundDock and iFi is the quality of the components used in iFis speakers"

"And because of the units three-piece design and included cabling, you have the freedom to create as much stereo separation between the satellites as you desire - something missing from the SoundDock"

"I havent heard any computer speakers that sound this good away from a desktop, so youre unlikely to get this level of sound quality without hooking your iPod up to good home stereo systemwhich is going to cost more than $400 "

doomed.....

I agree that on a price comparison stand point, this is better than the SoundDock, but I also predict it will not even made a dent in SoundDock sales. This system is for people that do not have a home stereo to connect to their ipod, it is not for people looking to play music from the ipod in a den, kitchen, office or bedroom.
The fact that it took 2 FedEx guys just to carry the damn thing in the door drives the point home.
I think many people (not all, but many) are looking for a protable solution (not "transportable" just portable) to play music off their ipod and while there are solutions that will result in better quality for a lower price, the SoundDock and the OnStage both offer that size convenience whereas I see (and this is only my opinion) the iFi as much more "substantial" solution. It will appeal to people looking for a system for a cottage, or if they don't have a decent home setero. For the casual shopper looking for a den / desktop solution, I think the size will keep people away.

Ok, not to offend anyone but, I sincerely doubt the Bose is nice considering what their other products sound like. And as for the Klipsch, I personally think most of their equipment is garbage. For 400$, you could get a true system-I have much less than that invested in mine and I am confident it can blow away either the bose or the klipsch. Again, it may sound harsh but im not tryin to offend anyone.

What less than 400 dollar system do you have? And I dont want value that you got, I want MSRP. The iFi can already be had for 350, and it wont be long before its only 300 so make this good. I'm all ears (no pun intended...)

I'm not sure what klipsch stuff you have heard, but the reference stuff is far from garbage, heritage even less so. I'm pretty sure you'll be surprised by the iFi.. not the bose tho.. sorry bose people, but the sounddock serves a different purpose; however, It has its advantages.
