hm, i know this sounds like it wont work, but maybe Reset the ipod by holding the action button and mouse button down for like 10 seconds until the apple logo comes on. IF that don't work, then i can't give you a solution cuz i wouldnt use 3rd party software with Itunes. It just makes me... nauseous...

O.K., turn auto-sync off. What is happening is iTunes sees that your iPod has the same amount of songs in your iTunes library so there is nothing to update.

Edit: Welcome to the lounge.

Hi Korn child tx for ur response to my problem. I turned off the auto sync as advised but i'm still having problems. My ipod constantly flashes "do not disconnect" and even when i manually add songs to my playlist I am given no option to update. Should I try and format ipod and start again by dragging and dropping tracks form hard drive?

Please help any 1!

Yeah, I would restore your iPod. iTunes should see it as a new iPod and allow you to disable auto-sync from the get go. Just remember that when you are on manual sync, your iPod will constantly flash "Do Not Disconnect" until you eject it. That is weird that you just can't drag and drop files over in manual mode in iTunes.

In manual sync, can you just drag a whole playlist to the iPod?

Yes, you can drag Playlists to the iPod from iTunes when in Manual sync mode.
