First time poster, i've been scouring through the boards looking for prior ideas to help with my quandary yet nothing has worked. Let me describe.

I connected my ipod to my Ibm notebook and for the first time since i've had it (15gb - July 2004) , it suddenly reports that itunes cannot recognize this ipod and needs it to be reformatted. I updated my itunes version and also have updated my ipod software. still the same message comes up. I tried to use podutil but podutil does not recognize when the ipod is connected. When my Ipod is connected to the computer, it comes up in "my computer" but cannot be opened like it used to be. I am at the end of my wits and really would like to salvage a library that has cost me plenty of money(not enough hard drive space to keep them all saved). Does anyone have any idea of what to do?
