Line-Out from Dock Connector

i'm trying to make my own line out cable, bypassing the dock, for my car set-up. i found the pin listing for the dock connector and out of curiosity i cut open a firewire to dock cable near the dock connector. after cutting through the insulation and shielding i found a white wire, a black wire, and a blue wire and a red wire which appear to be twisted together between the white and black. Is there even going to be a line out signal in this wire? Or is it only carrying data/charging.

Well nobody has replied yet but i went ahead and took apart the connector on this wire. There are six wires, not four like i originally thought. Red, blue, red, green, black and white. As far as i can tell, white is firewire power +, black is -, and blue, red, red, green are firewire data. There is no line out . I'm going to now try to transplant the firewire pins into the line out pins, they are just soldered on, i need a very very fine solder tip though.

wow, youre right, thanks a lot

for anyone who may still be interested, i got the whole dock connector taken apart and was going to solder in the new wires when i realized i was nearly out of solder. i was about to go get some when i found this...so in theory i think it could still work but it would be kind of pointless to continue trying, those links are exactly what i was looking for

Yeah, no problem, right up the alley. I was looking for that too. My problem remains, if i shoud take apart the blekin or not. The adapter has a build-in mini amplifier, it could also be used as a pre-amp if you want to plug it direclty in an amplifier. It depends on what you need to plug it in. If it's for the Car with a stock stereo system (with no amp), i would NOT take that adapter apart or else you'll have the common problem that everone has. LOW volume even when the IPOD is at full volume strength.

Let me know... if the volume is good.
