FireWire is generally a bit faster than USB 2.0 with the iPod.

There both pretty much the same, I've heard arguments for both on which is faster, but it really doesnt matter which one you use.
The 15 hour battery is accurate, atleast on my ipod so far.
I dont know why it has 17 min as opposed to 25 min.
And the vaja case is the best case on the market imho (and the most expensive) The countour showcase is also a good choice.

On Windows machines USB is probably going to be a bit faster, since USb is an Intel standard. Apple created Firewire, so that is more mature on the Mac platform.
As for the battery life, 15 hours is generally considered to be fairly conservative on Apple's part. I get 17 hours easy on shuffle.

Go with the firewire, USB can reach faster transfer rates ,but I don't think it can sustain them, while firewire seems to have a more stable transfer. This is from what I have seen but I would be interested in any tests done with the ipod using both and tansfering large amounts of data, so if anyone has any links of experince please post...

Firewire seems to be faster for me on my Mac - but I can't confirm that.
I get about 10-12 hrs from mine, but I'm constantly showing photos, etc. and accessing the hard drive a lot. I also use the backlight a lot.
I had it fully charged before snowboarding once, and put it in my jacket playing a playlist. It played untouched for about 5 hrs and the battery status indicator had only dropped one blip...
