Talk me out of it (Zen Micro)
Ok first of all I have a 40gb 4g ipod. I love it... and so does my sis. Soooo I'm going to get her either:
a) iPod mini
b) Creative Zen Micro
I was all set on getting the Mini based on my experiences with my bigger one but I've been doing some research and it seems that the Zen Micro is the top choice in the ~$250 price range. Many people in this forum seem to agree also.
Any reason to stick with Apple in this case? Can we both upload songs I downloaded off iTunes? Just looking for some reassuring advice before dropping so much on a present. :D Those who have toyed with both the Zen & the Mini please post your experiences.

No, songs you download off of iTunes are NOT compatible with any player besides an iPod, so if you buy the Zen Micro none of the songs will work, but they will if you get the mini.

Yeah.
Ok, time for the definative questions. "Do you love your sister? Would you have her suffer through the agony of Creative?"

The mini may be 'cuter', but I think the Micro is the more attractive of the two. Most will tell you that iTunes beats Creative Media Source hands down. They're both easy to use, and sound good. The Micro has better battery life and a user replaceable battery. They're both good choices.

Iterestingly, that could be soon...
According to sources close to AppleInsider, the previously-rumored revision to the iPod mini line is already in production in Asia. Teaming up with Seagate to produce the revised mini, Apple plans to introduce the new 5 GB model in early 2005. According to the source, Apple plans to build a stockpile of the devices to meet the initial demand.
The new mini is expected to debut alongside a highly anticipated flash memory based iPod in early 2005, possibly at MWSF.

Actually if you're willing to shell out the some odd..errr like 3-5$ for a CD-RW then you can burn your iTunes AAC's to a disc and rip it from there into MP3 format...if you dont mind the trouble.
As for the mini or zen micro however...
Personally you might want to seriously consider the mini...4 GB is actually quite alot more than people seem to think. I just now have 5GB on my 20GB. So if your music collections a little more on the small side definately give the mini a shot...plus i mean COME ON how is that touch strip NOT a spin off of the click wheel? i could never respect un-originality.

Ralph, though there is a very noticable quality loss if you rerip the purchased songs.
