How do I get my "missing" files back?

Yesterday I unplugged my iPod without ejecting it. I know...big mistake. 12.5 gig of songs no longer appear in my iPod. Not a single song is there. But...the files are STILL on my iPod...it's just that it doesn't recognize it. So I got ephPod and it recognizes all the files that are "missing". But I can't figure out how to get my iPod to recognize those files again. Any help anyone could offer would be most appreciated. Thanks! :)
