Is this just a curiosity question, or do you plan on doing it? I don't see any advantages really.

The USB port is powered. Whenever I needed a quick charge up on my old PocketPC, I was able to use a mini-sync cable and charge it on a PS2 (the original kind, not sure if anything has changed with the new thin one).

So, it probably would work if you had the 4G cord, worth a try although it's not all that useful.

If it's a fully USB compliant port it should provide the standard 500ma of power so there is probably no technical reason why it wouldn't work.
Now all somebody needs to do is get a XBox controller port -> USB adapter (they are available the Linux geeks use them) and try to charge their iPod through a XBox as well.

haha, yeah...

it would be kind of funny if apple took a spin on that and partnered up with hershey's to create a "ipod shuffle chocolate bar." bet it would sell like hotcakes

anyways I just tried it, doesn't seem to work. then again my ps2 is pretty beat up :(

I was told that the ipod sucks about 12.7 to 13 volts of juice. A 6 pin firewire will do it, a 4 pin wont (obviously) and a usb1.0 wont but, you guessed it, a usb2.0 will.

Im just relaying information here, please do correct me if im wrong.

With 1.0/1.1 it'll work with the iPod for a little while but eventually die. This happened to me. Simply get a USB 2.0 Hub. I use a Kensington. It has 4 ports and works awesome. I'll try it with the PS2 later and report back.

I have an old tray loading Revision D (5 flavours) iMac, with USB1.0, and i can charge my iPod 4G off it without any problems.
