For me, i'M not really that worried with the scratches, wait, yes iAm, but the most iAm worried with my iPod are the fingerprints on it, or should iHave to worry about it? iCan easily clean the fingerprints off the iPod the same way as iWould clean my Sun Glasses. And with the case iUse, my iPod has a scratch because of it, iHave an iPod photo and my case is for 4G iPod but not including the iPod photo since its slightly thicker.

The only way to avoid scratches is to take super care of the iPod. Always carry it in an empty, soft pocket. Make sure there are no fasteners like velcro or buttons or zippers on that pocket. Never allow anything to touch you iPod other than your hands. Don't place it down on tables or other hard surfaces, and don't polish it very roughly.

In other words, it is nigh impossible to prevent a scratch on an iPod without limiting its usefulness.

You could use something like the iCondom which is a thin plastic film for the back and screen, it reduces fingerprints on the back and prevents scratches on the back and screen. You can also leave it on if you want to use a skin type case.

iCondom is a good thing to use. even with cases, it prevents fingerprints and big scratches.

I've been thinking about getting an iCondom but have been put off by the fact that I think it might overheat the battery. Is this true because the iCondom stays on at all times (during charging/syncing) whereas you could take the iPod out if u just used a case.

To those who are using one already...how are they?

if you don't mind actually covering the design of the ipod itself... you can go to decalgirl.com and buy on of their wraps. they cover the front side of the ipod and about 70% of the back. just buy a back protector like the iCondom and apply it on the back and then add the wrap. the wrap should keep the iCondom from peeling off, and the wrap should stay on for years (the site advertises their wrap's lifespan to be 6-8 years, if not longer).

the only problem is that the corners are exposed... which shouldn't be that much of a problem, unless you drop your iPod... corner first.

you can get the wrap in quite a few different designs... or you can request to have a wrap in just a single solid color.

- i hope that helps your situation.

It's only a thin film of plastic, I don't see how it could cause a problem. I leave my skin case on for normal charging/syncing and my iPod never seems to get particularly warm. The only time I take it out of the skin when syncing is when I plan on transfering a large amount of data, like if I was doing a reformat.
