$99 iPod Turn In

My friend a few months back went into an Apple Store and paid $99 to turn in his older iPod and receive a new 60B (photo holder, color screen)

Has anyone heard of anything like this?

I called the store and they knew nothing about this special, or weren't telling me about it... for fear everyone would do that.

How great would that be!! Any thoughts on this?

Doesn't exist....... Apple does not have a turn-in, upgrade process...never has. $99 is the base fee (starting fee) to repair an iPod. I suspect what really took place is that your friend took his iPod in for repair and somehow the story of what happened became confused...... or perhaps a bit "enhanced".

thanks for replying. But my friend swears that what happened. His olf iPOd was working. Says the store told him they're collecting some older ipods to use as 'refurbished' ones. I would love to know if Apple is going to do this again!

He's lying. Apple does not do this with iPods or their PC's. Go to an Apple store and ask...
