I get a Chkdsk utility request where is it?

Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. I get the folllowing message when I plug in my iPod.

itunes:itunes.exe_corrupt file
The file or directroy \ipod_control\device\sysinfo is corrupt and unreadable Please run chkdsk utility

I have reinstalled the ipod software with no change. I am running a PC with XP. What chkdsk utility software are they talking about?

Thanks

CHKDSK is built into the Windows operating system. You can run the program to verify the integrity of your hard disk and to repair certain types of problems.

First, you need to be logged on to your PC with an ID that has administrative privileges. Launch a command prompt and type in:

CHKDSK /F <press ENTER key> [there is a space before the slash]

You will probably see a message asking if you would like the command to be executed the next time the PC is booted. Respond by pressing 'Y' for Yes and reboot the machine.
