The first charge after purchase

hey everyone. I just received the 40 gig iPod from my dad for an early christmas present. Well I plugged the iPod in the charger like it says to do in the directions. However, the battery life icon doesn't show and it won't turn on. Do I just need to wait longer or is something wrong with the iPod. I've had it charging for about 40 minutes now.

I had a similar problem, the ac adaptor on mine was broken...when charging from mains the whole screen would turn blue. just went to the local apple store and got a new adaptor for free. Does it charge of the usb/firewire lead when plugged into you computer? if so then its probly the adaptor thats brokenTomWhitson at 2007-11-15 13:45:45 >

well the problem is... is that absolutely nothing happens when i charge it. No blue screen, no charging icon, no nothing. I'm guessing that it is probably the ipod itself that is not working.. im probably going to go back to where my dad bought it and see what they can dowowitsdanny at 2007-11-15 13:46:45 >
