iPod is not being recognized(or charging!)

My iPod is not being recognized by the computer. I connect it to the USB port, it flashes "do not disconnect" for a second, then it says "OK to disconnect" And I see that it's not even charging the iPod. Music is not being transferred over, I know I have added songs that haven't been transferred. I do not see the iPod when I go to "my computer". I have tried reinstalling iTunes, resetting my iPod, plugging it into different USB ports, but nothing has worked.

I tried installing the software onto another computer, and the iPod was still not being recognized. It is not the USB ports, because I use them with a camera and they work just fine.

edit, i have been able to transfer music over many times before, i've been doing it for the past few months, but this just recently started happening

Yes. This has happened to me too. After restoring my iPod many times, and with the latest 2004-11-15 Updater as well.

After synching all my files two days ago (again), I managed to safely eject it, and everything was working fine. NOW, when I plug it into my computer USB 2.0 port, the same thing as yours happen....BUT a message pops up after 20 mins of waiting saying that my iPod needs to be formated to be recognized by Windows.

This is incredible....so everytime I need to transfer new music to my iPod, I need to restore it everytime....especially since I just deleted most of my music files to make more room to import.

I think I need to return this 4G worth of junk.
