Question about Ipod

I am not sure what the appropriate forum for this is, but I just got my iPod and I was pretty stoked about it. Still am, really, but I have a question. Once the music is on my iPod, can I take the files off of my computer to save space? Thanks

Yes you can but you should change the iPod to manual sync instead of automatic otherwise it'll delete everything on the iPod. Where in Jersey are you?dgstinner at 2007-11-15 13:45:39 >

I am in south jersey :D. Anyway how would I go about safely removing the computer files so my ipod still has the music lol i really dont want to lose all the music and then not have the music files on my comp.. but then again i dont want all this stuff on my hard drive. 1. add all your music to iTunes (File>Add to library)2. Connect your iPod; allow it to autosync your music. Once it's done, right-click on the name of your iPod in the left-hand source column of iTunes, select options.
3. Change from Autosync to Manually Manage Songs & Playlists
4. Click OK
you can now delete your music from your computer, and the next time you hook up your iPod, nothing will be deleted from it. You'll have to manually add songs to it, though, by dragging them from iTunes. Be warned, though, if your iPod is ever lost, stolen, or gets broken, all your music is lost. Before you delete it from iTunes, I suggest burning it to CD/DVD so you have a backup.

Like I said, just set the iPod to sync manually instead of automatically. With the iPod connected, right click on your iPod in the left side of iTunes, select iPod options. You should see a couple of options on how the iPod will sync with iTunes, either fully automatic, automatic with limitations (like only certain playlists, etc) or fully manual.dgstinner at 2007-11-15 13:48:44 >
