I store all of my mp3s on my main computer, a Win2K desktop. Currently I am away for Christmas holidays and have with me my iPod and my iBook. At this moment, I have my iPod plugged into the iBook and am browsing the contents of the iPod and rating some songs and such.

I also decided that since I am bored at my parents' house, I might revamp my genre scheme (I have a few I am not happy with at the moment). However, I heard that the iTunes update is unidirectional-- if i change something on the iPod but not itunes, when I plug into iTunes, the iPod's change will be deleted. So would this happen if I change tag information for existing songs on the iPod?
