Question about Organizing mp3s
Hello, I guess I'm pretty anal about the organization of my ipod. I was wondering if something is possible. Is it possible to have an mp3 labeled twice but only taking up the space of one song? For example, if a song is on a soundtrack, and a song is also on an album, is it possible to have it labeled under each one so that it doesnt end up taking up twice the amount of space on my ipod? Basically can a songs album be listed twice so that it appears in both the soundtracks as well as the original album?

i understand what you mean, and to the best of my knowledge, it's not possible. i would like to have a single song, say The Beatles - Eleanor Rigby on both the Revolver and the 1's albums, without needing 2 instances of the song. i just opted to dump the track from the 1's album, as it is more necessary for completeness on Revolver than 1's...
welcome to the lounge, buddy
# 2 Re: Question about Organizing mp3s
Thanks, yeah space is really not an issue on my ipod right now, i have a 40gb and right now only 11gb are taken up. I was just curious though, because it seems like something that might come up with a lot of people. I guess not everyone is this concerned with the organization but it's something to think about. I think for now I'll keep the two mp3's and if there ever comes a time when I'm running out of space I'll get rid of one.

yeah, sounds like youre fine with the 11/40 gigs. it wont be until you reach the rim of the glass when you'll start deleting songs from you ipod that you dont really listen to very much / even like at all.

Hi again, I just noticed something. When changing the info to a song. down towards the bottom to the right of "genre" there is a box that you can check that says "part of a compilation" I checked the box and nothing seemed to happen. Anyone know what this is for?

I check that box when I have a techno CD from different DJ's or a CD from different artists of a certain timer period. I can then browse by compilation if I want instead of looking through each aritst to find the album.
