Two hour battery life?!

I was given a Mini iPod in August this year and since that time, the battery life has slowly been decreasing from the normal 7 and a half ish hours when it was new whereas now I'm lucky if it lasts two hours. Everything else is functioning fine, and I'm curious as to why the battery life's been slowly getting less and less? Any ideas whatsoever are greatly welcome :D

Edit: Ahem, just seen there's an iPod Mini forum for this kinda thing. Sorry, I'm a newbie.

Does sound like a classic battery defect, which is covered by the 1 year Apple warranty (see their battery statement below). If indeed you are sure that it is being charged properly (that is a complete A/C via the mains plugin charge and not just a USB or firewire charge) ..... and you are not getting more than two hours using the iPod in the same manner and general settings as before when you got 7 hours, then you can send it off to Apple for repair/replacement.

What apple says:
Service coverage is available only for the iPod and its original included accessories (excluding the carrying case) that are defective in materials or workmanship or or for battery depletion of 50 percent or more from original specification. Equipment returned for service may be repaired or replaced with functionally equivalent new, used, or refurbished equipment.
