audio output level

I'm using my IPOD in a pub through the stereo system. my problem is that the audio output level is much lower than any of the other components feeding in to the amp, so that if i switch from a CD or the radio to the IPOD i have to turn the volume way up to get the equivalent sound. the real problem occurs when the jukebox is on because it cuts in automatically through a relay to override the IPOD whenever anyone plays a song and because the volume is turned up so high to compensate for the IPOD..........
I've tried using the dock as opposed to the earphone jack as suggested in some threads but it makes no difference. I've also read in some of the forums about software called EUPOD, which can be used to raise the output volume, would this help ? this is a US IPOD

thanks
