AC Adapter use after firmware Update

After updating the firmware on my 4g Ipod, it tells me to plug it into the AC adapter from a stable outlet. Problem is that i left my AC adapter at my apartment and i'm not going back there for another week and everytime i press a button the "AC Adapter into the wall" icon appears. So 1) is it a problem if i don't plug it in until then, and 2) is there a way around this so that i can use the Ipod before i plug it in? Thanks.

ps. I have the dock and the USB plug (using a Windows formatted Ipod)

Welcome to iPodlounge!

You might be able to use the FireWire cable connected to a powered FireWire port on your PC (if one exists). Otherwise, you won't be able to use the iPod until you get back to your apartment and plug your iPod into an AC Adaptor.
