solution to the noise you may hear from the hard drive spinning and the crackle you sometimes get at the beginning of songs. ive noticed these problems using shure e2 earphones.

i think this is deu to some of the metal headphone jack touching the metal ipod case, as when i pull the headphone jack out slightly the problem stops.

i put a small peice of clear plastic sticker (i cut out a small piece from a security sticker from a cd from hmv) and put it over the headphone socket. then cut out the hole with a razorblade or scalpal.

hey presto, no contact with the metal case of the ipod and headphone jack, and its quite inconspicuous and invisible if you use a case like iskin.
