my ipod skips or hangs on lots of tracks

can anyone please help my
my ipod skips or hangs on certain tracks. sometimes it appears to be playing but i do not hear anything

please help me as i do not wish to lose allthe tracks of my ipod as my pc had its hard drive replaced recently and i will lose all the tracks if i am forced to reset and restore it

Sorry to say this but it sounds like you do need to restore your iPod and start fresh.

You can copy your files to your new hard drive first though,
