Need some serious help

I'm the new owner of a 20 GB and I currently have 187 songs on my ipod. However I only have 17 point some GB left. I know this is because i get my songs from WinMx how can I put the songs from the ipod back to computer and format them to something better and less spacious?

I still need to know how to change the format for less space.Because I don't think 187 songs should take up 3 GB.

First off, your 20GB iPod is really 18.6GB. So your 187 songs is taking up about 1.5GB. What bitrate do you have them encoded at? 128? 160? 192?

You can convert from one file format to another but that will result in a degredation of quality. In iTunes go to -> Preferences - > Importing and set those options to a lower quality, then in the Library select the songs to convert and go to Advanced -> Convert Selection to [whatever you chose in preferences].

However your best option would be to re-import the tracks from CD. Just go to iTunes -> Preferences - > Importing and set the options there to a lower quality, then re-import from the CD. (since you're only 187 songs this would be a better option IMO than converting from the files as they currently are).

re-import them or onvert them!

lol

Listen,
Go to advanced > importing> selcet mpe encoder, aac encoder, whatever enocder you want, then under that select the bit rate, tosee what bitrate they already are right click on the file or files and click get info, then go to summary.
