Changing from a PC iPod to a Mac
Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. To Whom It May Concern, I was a PC user up till recently. I now have a Power Mac G5 at home, and I continue to use a PC at work. I have an iPod 20 gig which is formated for PC. I no longer have the music on my hard drive of my PC- I only have the music on my iPod. I now want to use my iPod exclusively with my home Power Mac G5, but am afraid I will lose all of the music on my iPod if I do so. Is there a way to export, or otherwise transfer my music to the Itunes of my Mac from my iPod without losing the music or having to re-format and start all over? Can you help???

There are some guides on this website on how to transfer songs from iPod to a computer. I don't remember the exact steps, but I know you have to download a program to do so. (iTunes won't let you).

Find the article called "ipod 201" . . . in it, you will find three related articles, one of which describes a step-by-step "how to" for uploading your music from your ipod to your computer! You download a program called 'podutil', and it's easy as pie!

The iPod 201 article titled Copying music from iPod to computer should help:
