Battery Problem?

LOL! How many problems can I have eh? I'm getting fed up, and almost ready to send it back. Anyways, the battery icon in the corner is showing NO charge...it is saying that I have no battery, when I just finished charging it. It isn't dying or anything, yet anyways...Sometimes the battery icon fills up a couple notches, and then goes back down...it just keeps goin back and forth. Is this a frequent problem?? Or is my Ipod toast?
Thanks :D

Yes, the battery meter may often be inaccurate. It does not affect the actual performance of the battery.

Well it died...after only about an hour of playing music. That's definately not a good sign. I'm wondering if these factors might have an effect?

a) When it was shipped to me it got very cold, and was cold for many days...could this have effected it?
b) I charged it a little bit, unplugged it, and had to move it somewhere else and recharge it again...could this have an effect?

And will it get better, or should I just return it...?

I would probably return the iPod to Apple.
