Unable to install original software
Hi guys, i just recieved my new iPod Mini, it was fully working when i booted up first time. Now i plugged it into my pc, (without installing the software first) and windows xp popped up with a warning that the drive wasnt formatted, so i allowed Windows XP to format under FAT32 system. And now the folder icon appears, well thats not the main problem, the thing is when i try to install the software it, finishes the installation fully, but instead of saying it installed it succesfully it just says it wasnt able to install it successfully and so the system hasnt changed.
I've also tried the new install updater, but its the same problem.
I read all guides and stuff.
Any help is muchly appreciated.

# 1 Re: Unable to install original software
ok seems no one else has replied so i can only give you help on the little knowledge i have, the whole process my be irrelevant but only wayi can think of solving it.
First i suggest you revert your computer settings to an earlier time
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System tools>System recovery
(hopefully youl have had turned that option on before)
select a date earlier to the time you had done all your i-pod business.
After reverting (this is how i had done it, since i had done all this before even getting my mini, i had it all prepared lol):
Go to apple.com and get the latest i-tunes software and install it, you can get your collection together now if ya want.
Go to the downloads section on apple.com and download the i-pod updating software for the mini. You will have to sign-up first with your e-mail address, and install the software.
Now plug in the mini, i used the USB cable (i have the slwoer 1.1 port) it says all the new hardware has been blah blah blah. It does everything for me.
Then i opened the i-pod updating software after all that had finished, and started the update. After it had finished i had to plug it into the mains to charge coz it had to flash the firmware update or something.
After it had done that open i-tunes, plug it back into your computer. I-tunes eventually lists the i-pod as a playlist icom sorta thing and started synchronising (sincei set it that way.
Hopefully that works for you, or hopefully youve already got it sorted. I diddnt mind writing all that.
