2 Ipods 1 Itunes
Ok, here goes. I have a 20gb Ipod which I brought a few weeks back. I have had absolutely no problems with my ipod whatsoever. I installed itunes, I did the necessary ipod registration stuff, i.e. inputtin serial number and have synchronised my ipod with itunes. The missus has just gone out and brought an ipod mini this weekend and basically what I want to be able to do is use the itunes software on my pc to manually transfer tunes to her mini ipod. What do I need to do? When I plug her ipod in nothing seems to happen? If possible can somebody post a rather descriptive step by step guide as I am crap when it comes to computers and the like. Cheers

Richard,
Did you get a response to your question? If so, what did you end up doing?
I am facing a similar situation and have not yet found the precise solution in the archives.
Thanks.

The issue seems to be for the original poster that the iPod is not getting recognized.
Plug in the mini and run the most recent iPod updater and try to install the firmware.
Hopefully the updater will recognize the iPod and you can install firmware and then iTunes will recognize it.
After the iPod is recognized by iTunes, access the preferences in iTunes for the iPod and set it to manual update. From there just drag/drop songs. To the iPod in the source.
If you are having problems getting the iPod to be recognized by the computer following the link in my signature that refers to recognition problems.

Thanks,
As soon as the new mini is charged, I'll let you all know how it goes.
The first charge for my 40 GB took longer than the cited 4 hours and such is the case with the new mini.

Ah, it was so easy once my partner registered her 6GB iPod.
I had set the 'Update' option to 'manual' and she chose the tunes that she wanted.
The minis are sweet, too.
Thanks again for all the help.
