what is wrong with my ipod??
I select a song to play, but instead of playing it, it'll show the song title and artist and everything, and then without even starting will go to the next song after about 5 seconds. It'll then play about 15 seconds of a song randomly, then go to the next song. It often freezes, and after restarting sometimes it'll show a file with a little asterik. I know that's some type of error, but I cant find my ipod manual and I can't find anywhere on the internet that has error messages. I'm scared I'm going to lose all of my songs or something. I only have them on my ipod and not on my hardrive, so I'm kinda screwed. WHAT DO I DO?? it's so frustrating...

Hmm, this sounds like the same issue I have had with one of my albums. If I can remeber correctly, I can't find a way to play no doubt's track "new" from their album titled "return to saturn". I select it it takes up 4 secounds and skips to the next track. Its weried because it works on itunes but can't play on my ipod.

This sometimes seems to happen to the iPod, well mine at least. Resetting the iPod seems to sort things out (hold down menu and play (3G) or select and menu (4G/photo/mini)) if this doesn't sort it then try restoring the iPod and reloading your music.

alright, now that I read a lot more, probably what I should have done before. Annnyway, so the folder is with an ! not a *. I did everything I was told to do ever, and nothing worked. I plug it into my computer, after getting lucky and having a succesful restart and maybe it's my computer, but the ipod is recognized half the time in my computer, i go to click on it so i can copy all my songs back on to my ipod, but it just causes the folder to not respond. I tried putting it in to disk mode, and using the ipod updater, but it causes that to freeze as well. I'm going home today, and I'm going to try it on the home computer, just to erase everything at least, but if not, apple is gonna deal with it.
