Transferring Music from iPod to Computer?

I have about 1400 songs currently on my iPod, all of which came from my Laptop, however my laptop crashed, and I lost all the music on my computer. Is there any way that I could take the songs from my iPod, and put them on my computer, or add new songs to my iPod without getting rid of all the old ones? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
