Format iPod without AC adapter?

I just formatted my 4G 40gig iPod to work with my PC. Now it's telling me that I am to plug the iPod into the AC adapter. I don't have a functioning AC adapter. This is a bit of a problem. Can anyone help?

No. Try plugging it into the PC or just wait until you get one. You should make sure that you always have one.

You may be able to get away with plugging it into a powered 6-pin FireWire port on your PC. If you don't have one, you definitely will need the AC Adaptor.
