Ipod is not reconized by CPU?

When i plug ipod into the cpu it usually says do not dissconnect and synchs the music. For some reasone tonight when I plugged it in the do not disconnect screen did not appear. It says it is charging via usb but not being reconized by cpu. Any ideas on why it is not working now?

sometimes, at least from my experience, the connection is a bit finicky. I usually take out the iPod and close iTunes. then put the iPod in first and bring up iTunes. this usually will let the connection occur when it's not working otherwise.

Yea I tried that but no luck. Is this a normal thing?

I reset the ipod and rebooted cpu opened itunes then connected it and its working now.
