The title pretty much says it all. Whenever I try to use my ipod updater it pretty much doesnt a damn thing except sit there for awhile and then if i'm lucky it will do something in the way of telling me that it "cant mount my ipod" whatever the hell that means. I dont have a dirty mind per se, but i'm not gonna tell you what I thought about when I got that error message.

Anyways this is in regards to my brand new U2 20 gb ipod.
I'm running Windows XP service pack 2, am using it with usb 2.0 port on my pc and have more than enough memory and cpu power to run this thing. But for some reason the instructions said that whenever I plug in my ipod to my usb 2.0 port itunes is supposed to load automatically and thats not the case. The only thing that actually (boy am I suprised) loads automatically is my webshots desktop wallpaper/screensaver program. It detected the ipod as a external device and asked me if I wanted to use it to store pictures and etc.

Thats funny I have a Iriver H140 40 gb mp3/ogg/wma etc player that windows recognizes as a separate drive too and my webshots never reacted to that before. By the way in my itunes program my ipod isnt listed in the "source" section and when I click on the "tools" button to check the status it tells me my ipod isnt connected, even though we all know it is. I have the latest ipod software updater which I just downloaded recently and i'm at a loss as to what could be the matter here. Everything else I own works fine but this stupid thing wont budge. I need HELP! quick! PLEASE. THANKS!:mad:
