Oh it's not just me then, I've noticed my 4G ipod doing this recently too, and it's getting progressively worse - it makes scratching noises when accessing the pod and when accessing tracks, and sometimes bleeps as well.

Is it time to return mine do you think?

Wow - My 4G hasn't made a sound since I got it...

Do you guys take it for roller coaster ride-trips?

You can make apple fix it, but I don't think that it's that big of a problem.

this happened to my 3G ipod - i hate to say it but it's the sign of approaching death. my 3G 30 Gig did this and 2 months later the disc completely stopped working. it's a grim fact: iPod's are disposable devices.

recently exchanged my 3G 40gig for a new 60gig Photo. One thing I noticed right from the beginning is a harddrive noise. I'm used to the basic spinning sound, which was faint on my 3G and is faint in the Photo...however, everytime it accesses the harddrive, I hear 2 "clicks". Not super loud but audible and I can feel it. Any others with the Photos that hear this? Was thinking it might be the bigger harddrive. It doesn't seem to affect anything and it's not something I hear when listening to music...but figured I'd ask so I could exchange it if this is not right.

Thanks.
