Advice Request
SORRY I AM NEW TO THIS FORUM & IPOD
I RECENTLY PURCHASED BOTH AN IPOD (4TH G) & A MINI, AND WHILST USING USB 1.1 I WAS ABLE TO INSTALL THEM BOTH AND DOWNLOAD MUSIC ON TO THEM WITHOUT ANY BOTHER. THOUGH OF COURSE THE DOWNLOAD WAS SLOW.
SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH CONNECTING AND SYNC'ING BOTH PLAYERS, I TUNES LOCKS UP, IT THEN DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE PLAYERS, WINDOS AT TIMES DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE PLAYERS AND I HAVE EVE HAD TO REFORMAT THEM.
I HAVE USED CREATIVE PRODUCTS IN HE PAST AND HAVE HAD NO BOTHER.
CAN ANYONE ADVISE AS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING ?? SHOULD I UPDATED TO USB 2, WILL THAT RESOLVE IT ??
SURELY I COULD NOT HAVE 2 BRAND NEW FAULTY PLAYERS BOUGHT FROM 2 DIFFERNET SHOPS WITH A FORTNIGHT OF EACH OTHER!!
ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED
THANK YOU

Welcome to the Lounge. Enjoy your stay with our wonderful members. Congratulations on the pruchase of your two new iPods. Also would you mind not typing in all caps because people take it as shouting and also it is very hard to read when you type like that.
I recently purchased an iPod and I don't have USB 2.0 or a Firewire card on my computer, but I was like hey whatever, a bit of slow speed could never hurt anyone. I have sync'd many times with my USB 1.1 and never had any problem doing it. Yes iTunes takes a bit of time to recognize it but its not long enough for it to lock up my computer. I would recommend closing all programs when trying to sync up because I believe when you first connect it, it becomes a big memory eater and I assume that is why iTunes is locking up when you try to sync with the USB 1.1 - I am going to go and purchase USB 2.0 so that I can sync a bit faster. I would recommend buying it, if you feel this is the reason you are having problems. If you are still having problems post more info and other people will definitely help you. Some people are more knowledgable than I am.

Thank you for that, sorry regarding the uppercase i will not use it in future.
I purchased them both as i was told i should not have an major problems using them via usb 1.1. However the problems i have especially with the IPOD are quite serious and if the player will sync with ITUNES once then never again it makes me think it may be faulty. Yet as i said surely both of them cannont be faulty. I had to restore the setting of the IPOD wheni connected it as one minute IPOD UPDATER recognizes my Ipod and then it doesn't. I have even tried using Real Player and i still have the same problems.
Any advice will be great.
THANK YOU
GOD BLESS

The thing that I am seeing, that is weird here, is that it works once but then not again. Take my idea of trying to close all programs before trying to sync the iPod for a second time and see what happens. If iTunes still locks up, try reinstalling it. Aslo if it is not recognizing your iPod then another thing I would try is to try a different USB port, if you have one. My friend has a faulty USB port on his computer that won't recognize anything plugged into it.
Please keep us updated on the situation. I just wanna make sure everything works out and we know how to solve this problem, if it happens to anyone else.
