Oh My God. Worst Day Of My Life. Help!
i was cleaning my keyboard with rubbing alcohol and i knocked the bottle over and it spilled right on my 4G iPod where the earbuds and itrip were laying right next to it. i imidiately dried everything off and tried it out.
MY SCROLLWHEEL DOESNT WORK! the clickage on the wheel works (the actual buttons), but not the touchwheel scrolling thing.
i put the earbuds in and they sound a little dull, im not sure if that's cause the volume is low and i just cant tell cause i cant access it, but im going to try them out on something else. same with the iTrip.
Meanwhile, can somebody tell me what may have happened or how to fix it!? IM GOING TO DIE!

Dude, don't be such a jerk. May all people like you burn in banishment from iPod lounge.
Anyway, I imagine the warranty is not gone yet, as it's a 4G. Take it to an Apple store. You get really good service that way. Or if you live to far away, call 'em up and say the wheel stopped working, just leave out the rubbing alchohol part. :P So yeah, you have my sympathies.
Anyway, outside of calling Apple, there is really nothing you can do. The clickwheels use the same stuff as laptop trackpads, and those things have funny junk that will DIE if not taken care of. So just call 'em and ask for a replacement.

i think the stuff in the clickwheel half-died. i just tried it again and it goes, but it never goes into that hyper-mode like when you browse by song and it goes really fast. i thought that was livable, but then it stopped working correctly, like, it would scroll up and then skipp stuff. its all messed up.

My sympathies.
I recently had my firewire + adapter stolen (long story) and it really sucked for the couple weeks I went without my iPod..I couldn't take it anymore, so I went out and bought FireWire+2.0 cable today..but I'm stuck without the adapter.

Don't overheat them. They use heat, unlike actualy touch for tablets and PDA's, so the results can be horrifying. This is why I have an Incase iBook case, as they use a material that takes several hours to change even 10 degrees. The outside has been hot, but the inside nice n' cool.

haha anyway. i was pretty much bummed all day and then i decided to see how the ipod was doing, i turned it on, and it worked like new!
i guess the alcohol just had to dry cause maybe some got under the clickwhell? i dont know, but i'm alot happier now.

Oh yeah? Well, I have a case that has a super thermostat inside, and when it senses a temp change, it flips on it's automatic bionic cooling system, that's powered off the 7331 coolness of my ThinkPad.
