does the usb thingie charge your ipod?

sorry but I just don;t know if it does and need to know! :)

4G iPods can be charged via either USB or FireWire.

3G iPods can only be charged via FireWire.

However, some of this depends on the capabilities of your USB port and whether it provides power. Many USB 1.1 ports, and many laptop USB ports do not provide sufficient power to charge your iPod.

However, any relatively modern desktop PC (purchased within the past two years) should have USB 2.0 ports that will charge your iPod.

thingie = female for the usb cable connector form pc to ipod soz...

also helps to read what it says on the ipod screen eg 'charging' - sigh...................
